Surfeit
I have torn myself apart with living,
And my heart's no longer bright
And gay, like fine palladium,
But heavy and dead, like lead.
For every drop of blood shed on this
Earth was my blood; every smile
And tear, fulfillment or desire
Mine, and every exaltation.
Like scintillating meteor that only
Flares a moment, is a life that's
Too intense, and I am satiated
With it, and content to die.
